Housewife traumatised after stranger attempted to kick open door

A 23-year-old housewife is now traumatised after she narrowly escaped to safety when a strange man with a bulky bag attempted to break down the door to her home in the wee hours of Saturday.
Reports are at about 00:30h on Saturday, Lesia Persaud of Number 2 Vilvourden, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), was at home alone and was about to use the toilet in her yard when the incident occurred.
According to the traumatised woman, she noticed a male carrying a bulky bag on the eastern side of the Vilvourden Public Road walking towards her yard and when the man noticed her, he began running towards her. The woman recalled that she dashed towards the inside of her home and locked her door. However, the man did not deter and began hitting her door repeatedly.
Luckily, the woman’s husband, Satish Dindyal, was returning home with his friend, and they noticed the man running from the yard.
An alarm was immediately raised and several neighbours in the area came out and gave chase.
They managed to catch the suspect and summoned the police to the scene. The man received a sound beating from residents and was handed over to Police.
A search was then conducted by the police officers, who discovered a red, yellow and black mask with three holes in the suspect’s possession.
The man was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital where he was treated and released into Police custody.
During the interview by the police, the suspect claimed that he bought the mask to wear and came with three others “on a boat”.
He is presently in custody, assisting with investigations.
