Hussain adds ‘Unique Open’ to 2018 titles

Aleem Hussain bagged his second title of 2018 after a near perfect outing this past Saturday in the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) Unique Open tourney.
Saturday’s action teed off a little after 8:00am with tons of local golfers vying for the numerous prizes and honors which were at stake. In a tournament which saw one group playing in the morning while another took to the Greens in the afternoon, the LGC President shot a near perfect Gross 64/Net 15 under some murky conditions to bag first place.

The slight drizzles on Saturday did little to deter the golfers, especially the LGC executives who swept the awards following the days play. Second place went to Club Vice-President Paton George who racked up a 67 Gross/ Net 23, with Richard Haniff sealing off the top three with his 67 Gross and Net 15.
Best Gross went to Mike Mangal while Nearest The Pin was won by the man responsible for having the course in such immaculate shape, Grounds Superintendent Mike Gayadin.
With the LGC pitching a new idea of having an annual Club Champ, points Allocation towards the new Champion saw: Mike Gayadin G69/N13 4th; Roy Cummings G69/N13 5th; William Walker G69/N9 6th; Mike Mangal G70/N8 7th; Fazil Haniff G72/N14 8th; Haresh Tiwari G72/N18 9th; and Bridgelall Harry G73/N16 10th.
Vouchers were also presented to the winners by daughter of Captain Chatterpaul Deo, two-time Women’s national champ Dr. Joaan Deo. Meanwhile in his brief remarks, Hussain said it was a good day for him but he was weary of his competition. “I had to keep focused, because the competition in my group was fierce. Both Richard [3rd] and Haresh were neck to neck with me until close to the finish.”
