IGG Athletic trials on today at Leonora

the National Track and Field Centre at Leonora, West Coast Demerara will be a hive of activity today, as the Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG) hosts the trials for the Inter Guiana Games (IGG), which will be held in Guyana from October 20-24.

It is understood that in excess of 250 athletes will be via for one of the 28 spots (14 male and 14 female) on the team. For athletes to past the eligibility test, they must be under the age of 20 and still attending an education institution.

The Inter-Guiana Games is an event between Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana that began in 1967. The Games usually involve competition in basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, chess, athletics, swimming, and table tennis.

The games which were last held in 2014, will see participation from Guyana and Suriname, as French Guiana will be unable to field a team due to financial constrain.
