Imam Bacchus Sports Club dominate Reliance in T20 matchup

The Imam Bacchus Sports Club (IBSC) of Affiance village, Essequibo Coast, Region Two overcame the Reliance Sports Club (RSC) in their highly anticipated T20 match-up played over the weekend at the IBSC ground.
Batting first, IBSC batsmen slowly picked away at the Reliance attack in the opening overs of ‘power play’, and accelerated thereafter to score at a steady run rate of 8.75 runs per over despite losing five wickets in the death, to end on 175-4.
Leading the way in scoring the runs, Mohindra Balbodar compiled a patient 60 and Parmesh Parsotam a quick-fire 55. Prem Persaud was the only Reliance bowler to take a wicket.

Needing 176 runs for victory, Reliance started their chase by losing key wickets in the ‘power play’. Realising they were staring down the barrel of defeat, Reliance attempted to bat through the innings; but pressure and tight bowling by IBSC restricted them to 92-6, and loss of the match by 84 runs. The only Reliance batsman to put up any resistance was T. Arnold, who top-scored with a patient 33 not out.
Bowling for IBSC, Navendra Persaud bagged 2-5 and Rodwin Gordon bagged 2-11.
