A hunter from Anarika, Essequibo River, whom police found to be in possession of two improvised guns and a quantity of ammunition at a camp along the Mabura
Access Road in the mining town of Linden, has been detained by police over the weekend for illegal possession of arms and ammunition. It was disclosed that Joint Services ranks deployed to a ‘Clean Sweep’ operation searched the area at Twenty Miles, Mabura Access Road and unearthed the prohibited items. Guyana Times understands that the suspect was caught with the improvised shotguns and seven live cartridges at about 17:30h on Saturday. Cautioned and detained in police custody, the man will be arraigned before a magistrate this week.
