Following the conclusion of the first ever, Prime Minister’s T20 Softball Cup, the organizers Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc. (GSCL Inc) are singing praises for everyone who contributed to the overall success.
Secretary of the GSCL Inc, Telisha Ousman said that had it not been for the fans, sponsors and well-wishers, the tournament would not have been possible. “Thanks to the Honourable Prime Minister, Moses Nagamootoo first and foremost for endorsing the tournament and for his support at the finals with his contribution and presence, Ousman said.
She further pointed out the efforts of the commentators, Onkar Singh, Inderjeet Persaud and John Ramsingh who kept the spectators and players informed and entertained with assistance from the Caribbean Hot Shots Band, the cheer leaders and the Raju Tassa troupe who she also expressed her gratitude to.
In the three-day tournament that began on October 27 with 14 All-Star teams and six Masters teams concluded in spectacular fashion on Sunday October 29 at the Everest Cricket Club Ground, Camp road and Carifesta avenue Georgetown.
Speed Boat won the All-Star title and $600,000 while Regal Masters ruled the over-45 years old category and copped $500,000 and the championship trophy. Additionally, there were lots of individual prizes but Safraz Esau; who was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the All-Star category to ride off with a Hero Motor Cycle compliments of Rose Ramdehol Auto Sales and Mahesh Chunilall who was the Masters MVP and won a 55” television set from Regal Stationery and Computer Centre were the ones to cash in the most.

Ousman said, after the inaugural tournament “everyone is probably expecting us to say next year it will be bigger and better but we will simply say that the next Prime Minister’s Cup will be the biggest and best tournament ever.”
