Home Sports Independence Race/Walk on the cards this month
In observance of Guyana’s 55th Independence Anniversary, the Caviliers Sports and Tour Club has moved to host a two-stage Race/Walk event, which will commence on Sunday May, 23 with a 10K Junior Race/Walk around Durban Park, Georgetown, from 6.30am.
The event is a collaborative effort between the Cavaliers and the Verman Bedessee Foundation, based in the USA.
Then, on Independence Day, Wednesday May 26, a 10K Open Race/Walk will be staged at the same venue in Georgetown, commencing at the same time. The cream of the country’s Race/Walking crop and a host of expected newcomers will match steps in both events, with the first three competitors to cross the line in the categories male and female (seniors), juniors, veterans and differently abled receiving trophies, medals, and other lucrative prizes.
Interested participants of all ages and genders are asked to be present at the starting line on both days at 6am.
