Intoxicated Berbice man stabbed to chest with bottle

A 25-year-old resident of Murphy Dam, West Bank Berbice (WBB) was last evening stabbed to his chest with a glass bottle as his wife was taking him home.

The incident occurred at around 20:30hrs along Murphy Dam, WBB.

Mahindra Singh was reportedly in a drunken state, causing his wife to take him home.

As the couple was making their way home, a man approached and stabbed Singh to his right side chest with a glass bottle.

The man was taken to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty. He was later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he is presently receiving treatment. His condition is listed as serious.

Checks were made for the suspect but he was not located. Investigations are in progress.
