“Isn’t She Charming” bags $500,000 in feature event

– Crawford satisfied with turnout

The Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facility at Alness Village on the Corentyne Coast in East Berbice came alive last Sunday, November 25 as fans were treated to the race of a lifetime.

Taking the feature event known as the Alness Classic over 1400 metres was “Isn’t She Charming” ridden by veteran jockey Yap “Old Boy” Drepaul, winning a handsome purse of $500,000. Coming in in second place was “Not This Time”.
For the L Non Earners, coming in first was “Osuna”, while “Rosie”, “Stolen Diamond” and “Rock and Come Home” followed respectively. The J3 and Lower saw “Byron” taking first place and “Red Region” coming in second, while in the L Colts and Geldings race, “Massapequa Dr” stormed over the line, leaving a trail of dust for “Touch Down” and “Touch Gold” who came in second and third respectively.
For the L fillies and mares, “Delilah” was able to pip “Call She’s Royal” and “Physical Disturbance” to win her leg of the race. In the final race, two-year-old open “Ebony Prince” was too good as he came in first place, outrunning “Awesome Banner”, “Hummingbird” and “Handsome Drift”, who came in second, third and fourth respectively.
Speaking with <<<Guyana Times Sport>>> Sport President of the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club, JR Crawford stated that he was satisfied with the turnout to the event. Despite the weather being determined to have its way, fans still came out to support their favourite horses. Crawford went on to state that he would like to thank his sponsors for their continual support throughout the years and said he hoped to see them on board at the next event
