– Top players to vie for spot on National team
Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) newly formed Jaguars Franchise League is set to bowl-off today with four matches scheduled between Tuschen on the East Bank of Essequibo and Young Warriors ground in Berbice.
In those matches, powerhouse Georgetown will face East Bank at Everest Cricket Club Ground, East Coast will tackle West Demerara at Enterprise Community Development Centre Ground, West Berbice versus Upper Corentyne at Young Warriors Ground and Lower Corentyne will clash with Essequibo at Tuschen Ground. All matches are expected to start at 09:30 hours
The Jaguars Three Day League replaces the Senior Inter County tournament and features over 100 of our local cricketers. This league will be followed by the WICB PCL league which runs from November to March 2017.
The following are the contracted players and the management officials that have been allocated as follow:
Upper Corentyne: Devendra Bishoo, Anthony Bramble, Assad Fudadin, Clinton Pestano, Coach – Winston Smith, Manager/Assistant Coach – Delbert Hicks.
Lower Corentyne: Veerasammy Permaul, Surujnarine Kandasammy, Raun Johnson, Coach – Julian Moore, Manager/Assistant Coach – Andre Percival.
West Berbice: Keon Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Shimron Hetmyer, Coach – Adrian Amsterdam, Manager/ Assistant Coach – David Black.
East Coast Demerara: Rajendra Chandrika, Paul Wintz, Steven Sankar, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Coach – Esuan Crandon, Manager/ Assistant Coach – Jitlal Jowharilall.
Georgetown: Leon Joseph, Christopher Barnwell, Robin Bacchus, Dexter Solomon, Coach – Colin Stuart, Manager/ Assistant Coach – Garvin Nedd.
East Bank/Upper Demerara: Vishaul Singh, Trevon Griffith, Steven Jacobs, Sherfane Rutherford, Tevin Imlach, Coach – Clive Grimmond, Manager/Assistant Coach – Rohan Sarjoo.
West Demerara: Raymon Reifer, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Akshaya Persaud, Romario Shepherd, Kemol Savory, Coach – Rayon Griffith, Manager/Assistant Coach – Dhanpaul.
Essequibo: Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ronsford Beaton, Keemo Paul, Kevon Boodie, Anthony Adams, Coach – Michael Franco, Manager/ Assistant Coach – Forbes Daniels.
According to the executives of the GCB at the launch of the League last week, the tournament promises to be more competitive than the inter-county tournament and will expose more cricketers.
Former West Indies under-19 player Gajanand Singh is expected to be one of players making a return to vie for a return to the national team.
