Johnson to lead President’s XI in Final Tour Match

Guyanese First Class captain Leon Johnson will once again lead the West Indies Cricket Board President’s XI against touring India, starting on Thursday in Basseterre St. Kitts and Nevis. This three-day match is the last of two practice matches for the Indians ahead of their four-test series against the West Indies.

Johnson, who gained a recall to the senior squad, will lead a 13 member squad which was announced yesterday by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). He made just two runs in the first warm up match and will get another opportunity to prepare for the first Test with a more meaningful contribution in this match.
Discarded West Indies fast bowler, Kemar Roach a veteran of 37 Tests in which he has claimed 122 wickets at 30.23 runs apiece was also named in the squad.
Roach headlines seven changes to the side that played the two-day warm up match that ended on Sunday at the same venue. He comes into the squad along with John Campbell, Rahkeem Cornwall, Jahmar Hamilton, Montcin Hodge, Chemar Holder and Gudakesh Motie.
Besides Johnson, there are three other Guyanese in the squad; left hand batsman Vishaul Singh, right arm medium fast bowler Keon Joseph and left arm spinner Motie.
The full squad reads; Leon Johnson (Captain), Jermaine Blackwood, John Campbell, Rahkeem Cornwall, Jason Dawes, Jahmar Hamilton, Montcin Hodge, Chemar Holder, Shai Hope, Keon Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Kemar Roach and Vishaul Singh.
