Kaieteur Attack Racing Cycle Club (KARCC) is appealing to the public and corporate Guyana for assistance to purchase a replacement bicycle for national Under-23 road race champion Ajani Cutting, whose bike was damaged beyond repair during Sunday’s Victor Macedo Memorial road race.

The club has sourced a bicycle in Trinidad and Tobago for US$3000 and is seeking contributions to help the young rider return to competition.
Cutting crashed at high speed in the Belladrum area on the West Coast of Berbice during the September 20 event. Although he sustained injuries, he said they were not serious and expressed his determination to continue pursuing the sport.
The setback comes as Cutting is expected to be part of Guyana’s team for the Caribbean Elite and Under-23 Championships from October 9-12 in the Dominican Republic.
The appeal follows a successful season for the KARCC rider, who stepped into the senior ranks this year and has already secured several notable results.
In May, Cutting won the Independence Three-Stage Road Race, finishing with a combined time of six hours, 58 minutes and 46.88 seconds. He secured the overall title by 12 seconds ahead of Alexander Leung, with Mark Lewis completing the podium.
He followed that performance by winning the national Under-23 road race title in June, ahead of clubmate Sidwell Sandy and Aaron Newton.
His breakthrough season also included victory in the Open category of February’s Beacon Café Paceline Road Race, where he finished ahead of experienced competitors Alex Mendes and Briton John.
KARCC is now seeking support to provide its young champion with the equipment needed to continue his progress and prepare for the anticipated regional assignment.
Persons interested in contributing towards the replacement bicycle can contact KARCC’s Mark St Claire on +592 666 2500.
