Bhagwandin, Persaud claim victory at Corporate Backed LGC Greensome

Corporate Guyana came out in strong support of the Lusignan Golf Club’s (LGC) Greensome Golf Tournament last Sunday, as 68 players took to the lush greens and sweeping fairways of the Lusignan Golf Course on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) for a day of exciting competition, teamwork, and family entertainment.
The tournament, which brought together golfers in a spirited battle for the top positions, saw Mahendra Bhagwandin and Max Persaud emerge as the overall winners after recording a gross 34, handicap four and net 30.
Member of the victorious duo Mahendra Bhagwandin said the partnership with Max Persaud was key to their success, despite a slow start.
“We complimented each other in the round. We started out slow, but in the end, it worked out,” Bhagwandin said. “We were pushed to our limits by the duo of Troy Cadogan and Avinash Persaud, who were in our group. All credit to them, as they brought out our best.”
Bhagwandin further explained that the competition remained tight right down to the finish, with three groups requiring a countback to determine the eventual winners.
“Three groups had to go on the countback to determine the winner. Fortunately, Max and I came out on top,” he added.
The tight leader board made for an exciting finish, with the top three pairs all recording net scores of 30. In the end, Bhagwandin and Persaud secured the top spot to walk away as champions of the LGC Greensome Tournament.
But the action was not limited to the golf course.
The LGC ensured that the event was a celebration for the entire family, with attractions including a bouncy castle, face painting, and mini golf adding to the lively atmosphere. Families and children were able to enjoy the day while golfers battled it out across the course.
According to the LGC, the successful staging of the tournament was made possible in part through the strong support of Corporate Guyana, with the LGC expressing its sincere appreciation to its sponsors and supporters.
