Keen competition expected in “Big Four” Tournament this weekend

The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has scheduled its Stag “Big Four” Tournament for today and Sunday at the National Track and Field Facility, Leonora, West Coast Demerara.
The semi-final match-ups will be played today and the final and third-place playoff on Sunday, November 12.

The “Big Four” Tournament kicks off tonight at the Leonora Track and Field Facility

Today’s scheduled games are Fruta Conquerors FC versus Victoria Kings FC in the first match followed by GDF FC versus Buxton United FC in the second game of the double-header, at 17:30h and 20:00h respectively.
GFF’s Director of Competitions, Ian Alves, in a release to the media, said keen rivalry was expected as Season III of the Elite League approaches: “As the football fraternity is aware, we’ve had a break between the end of Season II and the commencement of the “Big Four” Tournament. Therefore, one of the things we will see in the ‘Big Four’ is which among the clubs have been able to maintain their training schedule, performance level and match fitness during the break. The results will very well be a reflection of such. We expect keen rivalry among the clubs since they will not only be competing for the cash prizes on offer, but will also be looking forward to going into Season III of the Elite League riding on their recent victories.”
The winners will pocket $1,500,000; the second-place club will earn $700,000 while the third- and fourth-place clubs will grab $500,000 and $300,000 respectively.
The “Big Four” is a knockout tournament among the four top clubs from Season II of the Stag Elite League.
