Malcolm Hendricks, the standout defender who helped steer Chase’s Academic Foundation to back-to-back championships at the 2025 KFC Goodwill tournament, is set to reap the fruits of his labour, taking up a training stint in Panama and Brazil.
Hendricks was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2025 edition of the tournament by Scout Narada Wilson, thus capturing an opportunity to train abroad.
According to the tournament’s coordinators, Petra Organisation, after months of anticipation, Hendricks, who recently completed his exams in June, is on his way to begin Phase One of his high-performance training opportunity.
The Brazil Link Ltd has put together a high-intensity training programme and cultural exchange project for the young Guyanese athlete.
Hendricks will head to Panama first for about 10 days’ training at the Universidad Latina de Panama and Ciudad del Saber where he will train and play against teams from Panama, Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago.
Phase Two of the project will see Hendricks moving over to Sao Paulo, Brazil, along with two other Trinidadian athletes to train and play with Academia de Futebol Real Brasil under the tutelage of coach Cesar Augusto.
According to a missive, the defender is in high spirits, and his family has been fully supportive of this endeavour and looks forward to his progress in Central and South America over the next few weeks.
Special mention was credited to Mr Cy Padmore, who has worked non-stop to ensure Hendricks has a smooth transition.
