4 athletes added to Guyana’s CAC Games athletics team

Guyana’s athletics team for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games has been expanded with the additions of Charissa December, Deshana Skeete, Tonya Rawlins, and Lloyd McCurdy.
Information received on Tuesday, July 21, confirmed the four additions to the squad, which previously included sprinter Jouvanna Cornette and javelin thrower Anisha Gibbons.
The CAC Games will be held from July 23 to August 8 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with the athletics component running from August 2 to 8. Cornette will compete in the women’s 100 metres, while Gibbons will contest the women’s javelin. Junior Cornette has been named as the team’s official and coach.

The CAC contingent is scheduled to depart on July 30.
Meanwhile, Guyana’s Commonwealth contingent will leave the country on Thursday, July 23. The team comprises Noelex Holder for the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay; Ravon Williams for the 400m and mixed 4x400m relay; Akeem Stewart for the 100m and 4x100m relay; Shamar Horatio for the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay; Jackson Clarke for the 200m and 4x100m relay; and Stafon Roach for the triple jump.
Simeon Adams will compete in the 400m and mixed 4x400m relay, Aaliyah Moore in the 800m and mixed 4x400m relay, and Kelisa Smith in the 100m, 200m and mixed 4x400m relay. Mark Scott, Linden Phillips and Thelson Williams have been named among the officials and coaches.
Guyana will also send a team to the World Athletics Under-20 Championships, scheduled for August 5 to 9 at Hayward Field in Oregon, United States.
The team includes Malachi Austin, Skylar Charles, Onesi Dunn, Tishawn Easton, Dequan Farrell, Dejuan Grant, Athaleyha Hinckson, Angel Jeffrey, Ezekiel Millington, Olivia Solomon, Tianna Springer, and Gordon Thompson.
Austin, Charles, Easton and Grant are listed for the 4x400m relay, while Charles, Dunn, Farrell, Millington and Thompson are included in the 4x100m relay pool. The individual entries include Austin, Easton and Springer in the 400m; Charles, Easton and Farrell in the 200m; Dunn, Farrell, Hinckson, Jeffery and Thompson in the 100m; and Solomon in the 800m.
James Cole will serve as team manager, with Quinse Clarke and Keisa Burrette as coaches. Aretha Legall has been named as physiotherapist.
