The murder charge that Freeman Street, La Penitence, Georgetown residents Kerwin DeSantos and George Hope jointly face detail that the duo, on February 4, 2018, at America Street, while being in the company of each other and with others, murdered Shawn Nurse during the course of a robbery.
Both men appeared before the magistrate unrepresented by legal counsel, and were each remanded to prison. They are expected to make their next court appearance on February 21.
While plying his trade as a money changer on February 4, 2018, forty-seven-year-old Shawn Nurse was shot to his face and left for dead on America Street, Georgetown. he reportedly was approached by a man wearing a red hoody and brown pants, who whipped out a handgun from his waist and demanded that Nurse hand over his cash. Nurse, who just two months previously had been robbed, refused the bandit’s demand and was shot to his head.
As detectives probe the matter, four men were arrested after a red Honda CG motorcycle — suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime, based on CCTV footage — was found in possession of one of the suspects.
Two of the men were reportedly the same persons who, back in December last, had robbed Nurse of some $500,000. However, that matter was dropped after the men had reportedly paid back the stolen money to the now dead man.
