
A 28-year-old labourer of Charity River Dam, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), has been charged with simple larceny following an alleged incident at a hotel in the region.
Huey Anthony Corlette is accused of committing the offence against 37-year-old self-employed Telisa Burry of Caneville, East Bank Demerara. The alleged offence occurred on May 26 at the Xenon Hotel in Charity, Essequibo Coast.
The charge was laid under Section 164 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
It is alleged that he stole a cellular phone and cash from Burry, who was a guest at the hotel.
Corlette appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty. The prosecution objected to bail, and Corlette was remanded to prison. The matter has been adjourned to June 22.
