A 28-year-old Laing Avenue, Georgetown resident was on Friday remanded to prison after being charged in connection with the murder of Kevon Travere Ridley, also called “Arthur”, in relation to a fatal shooting incident that also left two men injured in Albouystown, Georgetown.
The accused, Shane Bourne, who was reportedly on the run, was finally arrested and appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where the charge was read to him. Police stated that on January 29, 2026, at James Street, Albouystown, he murdered Travere Ridley.
Bourne was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison. The court was informed that the prosecution has yet to disclose the statements on the matter, and as such, the case has been adjourned to June 3.
The charge stemmed from a shooting incident on James Street, Albouystown, which left Ridley dead and two others injured.

It was reported that Ridley was standing in front of his yard in the company of a 30-year-old friend, identified as Kishi Thomas, a vendor of King Edward Street, Albouystown.
The men were reportedly engaged in conversation when the accused, who is known to Thomas for several years, allegedly approached them with a handgun and discharged several rounds in their direction.
Both Ridley and Thomas reportedly fell to the ground during the attack. Thomas later realised he had sustained a gunshot wound to his back, while Ridley was found motionless. The accused fled the scene.
Riley was later pronounced dead at the Georgetown Public Hospital while Thomas was treated and admitted.

A third victim, 43-year-old Cornel Gray, a spray painter of West Bank Demerara who operates a workshop on James Street, was also injured during the shooting. He too was treated. Following the incident, Police processed the crime scene and recovered several spent shells along with one warhead.
Ridley was reportedly involved in several armed robberies. He was arrested in 2023 during a Police operation in the Stabroek Market area with a quantity of cannabis. In April 2017, at the age of 18, he was remanded to prison in relation to a robbery matter involving the theft of gold chains, for which he had pleaded not guilty.
