A 25-year-old labourer of St Ignatius Village, Central Rupununi, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo), has been remanded to prison after being charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Junior Thomas was charged with Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10.
According to Police, Thomas was arrested on Wednesday after he was found in possession of three grams of cocaine.
He appeared before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, where the charge was read to him, and he pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The court remanded him to prison, and the matter was adjourned to August 12.
