Lifeless body of Mahaica man found in trench

The family of 38-year-old Dextroy Barker of Lot 24 Second Street Jonestown, Mahaica, is now in grief after the man’s lifeless body was found in a trench at Belmont Mahaica, East Coast Demerara.
Reports are the discovery was made at approximately 08:45h on Sunday morning.
According to the man’s family, he was last seen alive on Saturday evening around 21:00h and it is believed that he might have suffered a seizure which led to his demise.
Based on reports received, relatives told Police that he usually suffered from frequent seizures which started some three years ago.
It was revealed by a source that Barker was seen playing dominoes on Saturday evening at a shop in the community with his friends.
He later left with his bicycle, telling friends he was heading home, but he never did.
After time had elapsed and there were no signs of the man, his mother visited the Mahaica Police Station and filed a missing person’s report.
However, on Sunday morning, a construction worker made the discovery. He was found lying in a trench clad in a white T-shirt and a pair of blue jeans.
At the time of the discovery, the now dead man was wearing two gold finger rings and had cash in his pocket. There were no marks of violence.
Investigations are ongoing.
