Skeletal remains found at No 37 seashore

Investigators are working to ascertain the identity of skeletal remains found at the Number 37 Village, West Coast Berbice seashore.

Regional Commander of Region Five (Mahaica Berbice), Yonette Stephens confirmed that the bones were found and that a post-mortem examination will have to be conducted. She further noted that a DNA test on the remains will also have to be done.
She added that on the day in question, a cattle farmer, who was in the area tending to his cattle, stumbled upon a skull – a further search revealed additional bones scattered in close proximity.
The discovery was reported to the police who visited the scene and retrieved the bones.
“At this point, we don’t know who it is, we have made contact with Region Six and informed them to see if there are any fishermen missing. But we would have to do some test and wait because the body could have washed up there from anywhere” Stephens added.
On October 5, 2019, four fishermen left a wharf at Number 65 Village for sea aboard “Sara 1” – a fishing vessel owned by Sharanand Rabindranauth of Number 68 Village, Corentyne. They were attacked, robbed and dumped overboard by other fishermen.
Dead is Kawal Kissoon also called “Ajai”, and Otto Lemar Petrie, while Marvin Tamesar also called “Buddy” or “Bin Laden”, along with Vishnu Seeram, also called “Kevin” are still missing.
Three men confessed to the police that they murdered the fishermen.
Investigations are ongoing.
