– Campton renews rivalry with GFC
Four teams will head to the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue this evening to vie for their chance of securing points in the third annual Limacol Knockout football tournament.
The tournament is sponsored by the Guyana Pharmaceutical Company (GPC) under their Limacol brand, in collaboration with the Petra Organization and aims at giving smaller teams a platform to show off their skills.
With twelve teams participating in the tournament, they have been placed in groups of four. Group A will feature a mixture of experience and youth in Guyana Police Force, Pele Football Club, Northern Rangers and Mahaica Determinators Over in group B Campton, Georgetown Football Club, Riddim Squad, Buxton Stars will fight for the most points in the group whilst Group C Santos, Pouderoyen, Grove Hi Tec and Beacons Football Club competing against each other in the round robin segment.
Tonight will see Group B action between Campton and Georgetown Football Club, both of whom will now be playing their first match of the tournament. Their encounter will go down at 18:00h.
On the other hand, playing out of Group C, Santos and Grove Hi Tec are scheduled to clash at 20:00h. With these teams also playing their first match of the tournament it will be interesting to watch the battle for their first two points and an expected confidence booster for the rest of the tournament.
The twelve teams are competing for a chance of grabbing the grand prize of $600,000 whilst the runner up team will contently settle for a $300,000 prize. Third and fourth places will receive $150,000 and $100,000 respectively.
