Linden contractor busted with gun, ammo at street lime

A 28-year-old contractor from Linden was taken into custody on Saturday following the discovery of an unlicensed firearm and matching ammunition in the vicinity of Pine Street, Mackenzie, Linden.

Police stated that acting on information received, a team traveled to the location, and upon arriving, several men were seen consuming alcohol while blasting music on the street. The contractor, however, began to act in a suspicious manner and attempted to leave the area after noticing the police. He was nevertheless stopped and searched, during which a 9mm Taurus pistol, with the serial number intact, and a magazine containing nine live 9mm rounds of ammunition were allegedly found in his possession. Without being the holder of a firearm licence, he was arrested and escorted to the Mackenzie Police Station, where the firearm and ammunition were lodged. During further investigations on Sunday, the suspect was escorted back to Pine Street, where his motor car was parked. Police stated that a search of the vehicle unearthed 10 additional live rounds of 9mm ammunition in a compartment between the two front seats. The ammunition was seized, and the motor car was lodged at the police station. He remains in custody pending further investigations and charges.
