Sixty-three-year-old Kevin Bess, also called ‘Generator Man’, a mechanic of Barama Line, Baramita, North West District (NWD), was on Monday sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment on two counts of narcotics trafficking. Bess virtually appeared before Magistrate Robindranauth Singh at the Port Kaituma Magistrate’s Court, where the charges were read to him separately.

Police stated that Bess was arrested on Saturday in the vicinity of Warapa, Baramita, NWD, after he was found to be in possession of 1,180.7 grams of cannabis and 23.1 grams of cocaine. However, during his appearance on Monday, he reportedly pleaded guilty to both charges, thus leading to the imposed sentence, topped with a $2,076,000 fine – $1.7 million for possession of cannabis and $326,000 for cocaine possession. Bess was reportedly arrested on Saturday by ranks who were conducting a police operation in the vicinity of Warapa, Baramita, North West District.
