Linden driver charged for DUI

Police in E Division (Linden-Kwakwani) are cracking down on the incidence of driving under the influence of alcohol over the past few weeks, with several drivers facing the court over this infraction. The most recent charge was against Lindener Mahica Grant who appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Linden Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. Being a first time offender, he was fined the sum of $7500 with an alternative of one week in prison.
Drivers are being reminded that the legal limit of alcohol when driving is 35 micrograms. Drivers in default on the first occasion will face a fine of $7500; on the second occasion, their driver’s licence will be suspended for one year and on the third occasion, their licence will be permanently suspended.
