Marsha Reese of Victory Valley, Linden in Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice) found herself before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Monday morning to answer to a charge of cocaine trafficking.
The 35-year-old woman pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on May 4, she had in her possession 197.6 grams of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
According to the prosecution, Police Officers acting on information raided the woman’s premises and she attempted to flee with a black bag in her hand. She was intercepted, and the bag was found to contain a substance suspected to be cocaine.
It is further alleged that the woman confessed to “selling” the illicit drug in a caution statement.
Reese was represented by Attorney-at-Law Adrian Thompson. Bail was refused and she was remanded to prison pending the outcome of her trial. She is set to return to court on May 17, 2017.
