Lindener jailed for 3 months for felonious wounding

A Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) man was on Tuesday jailed for three months by Magistrate Dylon Bess after he admitted to a charge of felonious wounding.
Randy Joseph of Republic Avenue, Mackenzie, Linden, appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court and admitted that in December 2019, he wounded Debra Richmond at Determa Street, Mackenzie.
Magistrate Bess also issued a protection order, which will prevent Joseph from going within 1000ft of the Virtual Complainant (VC).
The VC had told the court that Joseph was in the habit of being verbally abusive towards her and had assaulted her while she slept.
The protection order, according to the Magistrate, also prevents Joseph from threatening or being verbally abusive to the VC.
Joseph is scheduled to be released from prison on March 22 since the time spent on remand will be deducted from his sentence. Joseph has been on remand in relation to the matter since December 2019.
