Lindener jailed for assaulting wife, damaging phone

A Lindener was jailed for three weeks after he admitted assaulting his wife and damaging her cellular phone.
Joylon Stephens, a construction worker of Victory Valley, Wismar, pleaded guilty to both offences when he appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
The court heard that on October 18, his wife Collette Reid, was sitting on a bench with a friend when the defendant came up to her and pushed her into a nearby creek.
The prosecution informed the court that when the Reid got up, Stephens cuffed her in the back, removed her cell phone, broke it and threw it away. Reid later reported the incident to the Wismar Police Station.
The court was told that the defendant was subsequently arrested and admitted to the offences.
He was fined ,000 for the offence of damage to property with default to pay will result in a one-month prison sentence.
