Lindener jailed for narco trafficking

…fined $525,000

Sheldon Joseph, also called “Bam Bam”, was sentenced to four years in prison after he was found guilty of being in possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
The 39-year-old man was sentenced by Magistrate Clive Nurse when he made his final appearance at the Linden Magistrate’s Court last week.
Magistrate Nurse, in handing down the sentence, noted that the prosecution succeeded in proving that Joseph was indeed guilty of the charge. The charge stated that he had in his possession 350 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking on January 8, 2018 at 47 Miles, Mabura Road. His Attorney, Yondessa Welcome, in a plea of mitigation, asked the Court to take into consideration the fact that he was never convicted of a crime and was very sorry for what happened.
She also told the Court that since the commencement of the matter, her client has had no brushes with the law and pleaded for leniency. Magistrate Nurse, however, sentenced Joseph to four years in prison and also ordered that he pay a fine of $525,000, stating that this should serve as a deterrent to him as well as others.
Upon hearing the sentence, Joseph pleaded for mercy while being escorted to the prisoner’s holding cell.
