Live stream in works for first Drag meet

The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) have ticked all the boxes when it comes to their upcoming drag race meet, including anticipating fans who would be at home. As such, it was confirmed on Friday that the meet would be live-streamed.
“Fans will not miss the action at the South Dakota raceway, as the event will be streaming via the club’s Facebook page, as well as broadcast on several local and cable channels,” Club President Rameez Mohamed disclosed on Friday.
Mohamed added, “The event will be live-streamed via one of our major sponsors, E-Networks.”
E1, SKAR TV (Channel 102) as well as Tarzee TV in Bartica are the other channels that will be broadcasting the drag action.
For those wondering about in- person attendance, Mohamed shared that it may be a possibility, but it is yet to be confirmed.
“We may allow a limited amount of spectators into the venue, but that is still in its discussion phase, and we don’t want to speak more about that just yet,” he stated. “This move represents a great step forward in the sport, because it’s something we’ve been trying to do for a long time, and this time presents the perfect opportunity to test it,” Mohamed stated of the opportunity to live stream next weekend’s meet.
With just over a week remaining for the February 28 event, track preparation is continuing. The track is being prepped daily to ensure that, come race day, complaints regarding its surface would not arise.
Meanwhile, the GMR&SC has reminded that the event would be held under the COVID-19 guidelines, with masks and sanitisation mandatory for all drivers, marshals, and persons entering the venue.
