“Living with Intention Youth Forum” kicks off Women’s Month

March is here and emphasis is on the impressionable mind to start the celebration for Women’s Month. “Living with Intention Youth Forum”, scheduled for Theatre Guild today, will see over 300 young ladies enjoying a growth atmosphere, as inspiring women share their journeys to motivate the young ladies to be the best they could be. This is the first time this event is being held and it is free admission. The line-up of presenters include some of the dynamic speakers who are here for INSPIRE YOU .
Empowering girls runs deep for Cloyette Harris Stoute. In 2017, Cloyette’s desire to transform the world through service led her to establish the Guyanese Girls Rock Foundation Inc – a non-profit organisation based in Saint Albans, New York, dedicated to empowering Guyanese women and girls to create their own paths to success. Faced with bullying as a teen, Cloyette dreamt of creating a space where girls felt encouraged and supported.
In January 2018, that dream was realised when the Young Women’s Leadership Academy opened its doors in the Teen Centre at the Queens Borough Central Library in Jamaica, New York. The comprehensive 12-week programme offers leadership training, mentoring, workshops, and scholarships to high school girls who are of Guyanese heritage.
Other speakers are Joan Jackie Butcher who is an educator Captain Sherry Ann Wilson. She stands proudly, pioneering in a male dominated field as one of the first female graduating Marine Captains in Guyana, among an esteemed few in the Caribbean. She has earned this title when she graduated in 2017 as second best graduating female in her batch.
Bestselling author Hilda Bournes from Mississippi who participated in INSPIRE YOU from the beginning, travels to multiple locations, encouraging women who’ve experience some form of trauma to D.R.E.A.M. again. Thandi McAllister is an Attorney attached to the Maritime Administration Department and a politician who is aiming for the highest political office. Her story of that little girl from the country who was determined to overcome will resonate with many young girls.
National schools of dance will be presenting an all-girls presentation and Jacobs Ariel will be singing two of his original songs. The talented Renata Burnette will be expressing herself through spoken word.
Theater Guild and Ramps Logistics were the sponsors for this event.
The exhibitors are ready for Women in Business Expo on the March 2 and 3 at the Pegasus and admission is free.
The INPIRE YOU event will motivate you to give the world the best version of you and is scheduled for March 3 at the Pegasus Hotel. Tickets are available at Pegasus and Oasis Café.
