Rupununi FA Champions League launched

The Rupununi Football Association’s (RFA’s) Champions League was on February 20, officially launched at the St Ignatius Benab.
A short briefing was done by the President, Rayan Farias, who thanked all club members for their continued support throughout the year, and outlined his vision for the development of football in the Rupununi.

Defending Male Champions, Tabatinga FC

Also speaking on behalf of GFF, President Farias shared greetings from the parent body, and shared its mission towards developing football in Guyana. Ken Grant also handed over gear to the referee, while other clubs made short presentations.
The opening match will commence on March 2 at a venue to be confirmed. Defending Champions Tabatinga FC (male) and Gladiators FC (Females) will take on Snatchers FC in both categories.

In a statement to the RFA, Gladiators FC would like to wish all teams best of luck, and urges fair play. They have thanked the RFA body and organizers for another Rupununi Football Champions League.

Defending Female Champions, Gladiators FC

Following an exciting contest with Paiwomak Warriors Football Club at the Wada’apna Sports Complex back in 2018, Tabatinga FC (Males) and Gladitors FC (Females) emerged champions of the Rupununi Football Association (RFA) Champions League. Tabatinga FC defeat Paiwomak Warriors 1 – 0, while Gladiators FC won against Paiwomak Warriors 4 – 1.
The Rupununi Football Association provides a platform for both males and females from across the Rupununi to showcase their skills and talents. Teams will be competing for a first place prize of $500,000, while second and third place will receive $300,000 and $150,000 respectively, plus medals and trophies. Prizes for the Most Valuable Player and Best Goal Keeper will also be up for grabs.
