Police are on the hunt for a man who attempted to break in to the Subnauth Gas Station at Number 56 Village, Corentyne, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) in the wee hours of Thursday.
The bicycle that was left behind by the perpetrator
Based on information received, about 01:15h on the day in question, the owner of the service station, Dave Subnauth heard noises and went to investigate and was confronted by the man who had already opened the gate to gain access to the premises.
However, upon seeing the businessman, the perpetrator fled. Subnauth reportedly gave chase, but the man managed to escape. He reportedly left his slippers, two bags, a can with paint, and a bicycle behind.
The businessman contacted the Number 51 Police Station and informed them of the situation, but they showed up nine hours later.
“51 Police say they will call the patrol. About 20 minutes after, we called again and they said that the patrol will come just now. We called Springlands to follow up to see if the patrol coming and they said the same thing that the patrol will come just now. We wait until about 3 o’clock and no patrol show up, up to this morning still no Police come and about 10:30h then the Police come,” Subnauth revealed.
He explained that his number one concern was the response time, since nothing was stolen from his business place.
