A lone gunman executed a brazen robbery on the Woodlands Hospital, Carmichael Street, Georgetown on Monday morning, carting off an undisclosed sum of cash. The incident took place about 07:30h. 
Reports are the man staked out the hospital and made his move as the night cashier was about to switch over to a colleague, ending her shift. He reportedly held the night cashier at gunpoint and relieved her of the money the hospital collected overnight. The man then exited the hospital and made good his escape in a waiting motor car.
Senior Police ranks have confirmed that the robbery took place and are working on the theory that it might have been an inside job. No arrests have been made, but investigators have acquired the surveillance footage with the aim of identifying the lone gunman. Officials at the private medical institution were reluctant to provide any information when contacted.
