Lavendra Luckiram and Rajiv Latchana won the Production and Standard divisions respectively, while Yonelle De Abreu topped the women’s category at the Guyana National Rifle Association’s Super September Shoot at the Timehri Rifle Ranges on September 6.

Sponsored by Aquafina Water and Ice Inc., the event was the association’s third small-bore competition for 2026. The International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Level I competition featured four stages, with shooters competing across two divisions and a separate women’s category.
Luckiram led a field of nine competitors in the Production Division, finishing ahead of Gordon Richards in second place and Jemaine Klass in third.
Latchana secured first place in the five-member Standard Division. Daniel Sugrim finished second, while Jonathon Ferreira completed the top three. De Abreu took the leading women’s prize in a category contested by two participants.
Competitors faced demanding stage scenarios in hot, sandy conditions, with the timed format testing their shooting skills, composure and ability to follow the sport’s strict procedures. The association reported that participants safely completed the challenges while maintaining the required discipline.
The two divisions offered different equipment conditions. Production competitors used relatively standard factory firearms, placing greater emphasis on comparable equipment, while the Standard Division allowed more flexibility to customise firearms and equipment.
Results were calculated using the PractiScore 2 application and presented by small-bore captain Gordon Richards. The section’s leadership also includes vice-captain Basmatee Mohabeer.
The association commended match officials and competitors for their professional conduct, particularly their attention to safety throughout the competition.
It also thanked Aquafina Water and Ice Inc. and its other sponsors for their continued support of the association and the development of sport shooting in Guyana.
