MACORP Golf Open enters its 10th year

One of the most exciting year end golf challenge, the MACORP Golf Tournament is set to tee off from noon on Saturday.

Fresh off competition in the competitive, Digicel Guyana Classic, golfers are expected to be prepared for another fierce weekend of golf.
Some 50 players are expected to feature in the traditional event which received a $500,000 boosting on Wednesday from the machinery giants, a jump from last year.
Chief Executive Officer of MACORP, Jorge Medina said he is pleased to be associated with the event as he realize golf is not only a sport but a lifestyle and could contribute to tourism. “We (MACORP) are pleased to have this tournament and we are in our tenth year in sponsoring this tournament….With the time I realized that golf is not only a sport, it’s a lifestyle and worldwide golf is very popular. Some countries like promote tourism like Barbados. Those countries have packages for tourism, not only to basic beaches and resources but for golf tournament practices and there are many other places like that.”
Meanwhile, President of the Lusignan Golf Club, Oncar Ramroop, said it is a privilege to express appreciation on behalf of his club for MACORP’s contribution. “It is indeed a privilege to say a few words on behalf of the Lusignan Golf Club to show appreciation for the contribution that MACORP is making to golf, to sports and to Lusignan Golf Club especially. Their contribution is no ordinary feat, they have been supporting golf at the Lusignan golf club for a decade now and that’s not ordinary.”
Besides winners in the male and female categories, there will be prizes for top three finishers in the various flights and Nearest to the pin.
