GTM Health and Fitness Expo 2017
– Dongo cops ‘Strongman’ accolade
In the first ever “Pairs” competition at the GTM-sponsored Health and Fitness Expo on Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Semonica Duke and Dillon Mahadeo reigned supreme, amassing 300 points.

The duo, last year’s “scaled” male and female champions at the event, competed across a series of challenges which tested strength and endurance. Among those challenges were pull-ups, lunges, burpees and other physical activities.
Timothy McAndrew and Shawnell Warner copped second place with 280 points, while Stephen Fraser and Delice Adonis came in third with 265 points.
Surinamese Donovan Dongo dazzled with his “super-human” strength to take the “Strongman” title just ahead of Guyanese Carlos Peterson-Griffith.
The strongmen were faced with challenges of hoisting a 250lb bag over a hurdle; the competitor with the most throws over was adjudged the winner. Peterson-Griffith stepped up first and set the score to beat — a whopping 9 throws that only Dongo came close to, with 8.
