Mahaica hit 5 as EDFA U-17 competition continues

Mahaica Football Club (FC) produced the biggest victory of the day with a commanding 5-2 win over Mahaicony Western Lions FC when the East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) leg of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Under-17 Youth Ensemble Programme continued.

Five players found the net for Mahaica, who established a strong 3-0 advantage during the opening 24 minutes.
Juelon Jones opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Joel Chapman doubled the lead three minutes later. Julian Hunte added the third goal in the 24th minute.
Damien White reduced the deficit for Mahaicony Western Lions in the 41st minute, but Keevil Austin responded for Mahaica in the 44th to make it 4-1.
Kareem Henry completed Mahaica’s scoring in the 70th minute, while Nashaun Rigby registered Mahaicony Western Lions’ second goal in the 83rd.
Ann’s Grove United also enjoyed a comfortable victory, defeating Victoria Kings 3-0.
Yohance King handed Ann’s Grove the lead in the 20th minute before Juslyn Halley extended the advantage in the 63rd. Kymane Kellman completed the scoring in the 73rd minute.
Melanie FC collected all three points after edging Buxton Stars FC 2-1 in a closely contested encounter.
LeBron Semple gave Melanie an early advantage in the fifth minute, but Malachi Jervis equalised for Buxton Stars in the 15th. Mark Glasgow then scored the decisive goal in the 48th minute.
BV Triumph FC were also among the winners after recording a 2-0 victory over Plaisance FC. Rovano Miles was the lone goal-scorer for BV Triumph, netting in the 42nd and 66th minutes, respectively.
The competition will continue on Sunday, September 20, with another four-match card at the Golden Grove Ground. BV Triumph United will face Buxton Stars at 10:00h, followed by Ann’s Grove United against Plaisance at noon. Mahaicony Western Lions will meet Victoria Kings at 14:00h, while Melanie and Mahaica Determinators will close the day’s action at 15:30h.
