Man admits to stealing cigarettes from friend

Devon Williams of Hadfield Street, Georgetown admitted to Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly that he had, on June 18 last, pushed and robbed his friend Cyril Preston of 10 packs of cigarettes and $4000 cash at Hadfield Street, Georgetown.
The Court heard that Preston and Williams are friends; and on the day in question, Preston was standing at a shop when Williams approached him, pushed him, and grabbed the items from his hand before making good his escape.
The matter was reported to the Police, and Williams was arrested and later charged.
Williams has been fined $70,000, with an alternative of 2 months in prison.
