Man busted with ganja at NA home

A young man of New Amsterdam, Region Six (East Berbice/ Corentyne) was on Friday evening found with more than one kilogramme of cannabis at his Tucber Park home.
In a release, the Police have said a search was conducted at the young man’s home for arms, ammunition, narcotics and stolen articles, and according to Regional Commander Jairam Ramlakhan, the cannabis was found hidden in several sections of the house.
During the search, officers checked in the bathroom ceiling and found one brown pillowcase with 49 transparent Ziplock plastic bags, and one brown ice-cream container with a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
Further checks were carried out, and a transparent container and a brown ice cream container were unearthed with several Ziplock plastic bags containing leaves, seeds and stems of what is suspected to be cannabis.
The officers also found, in a bedroom, a basket with a quantity of tobacco leaves, and they discovered a string bag with a quantity of Ziplock plastic bags, one black parcel wrapped with transparent plastic wrap, one black garbage bag containing one black plastic bag and one transparent plastic wrap, all containing quantities of leaves, seeds and stems.
The 20-year-old suspect was thus cautioned and arrested.
Meanwhile, the narcotics, weighed at 1.9 kilogrammes, were seized.
The ranks also discovered two electronic scales and seven pairs of scissors during the search.
Investigations are ongoing as the Police attempt to ascertain the source of the illegal drugs.
