Home News Man charged for attempting to kill Police Officer
The man who in April 2016 attempted to kill Police Officer Donald McKenzie was on Monday remanded when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on an attempted murder charge.
The accused, Kerry Dick, was not required to plead to the indictable charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
It is alleged that on April 25, 2016 at William Street, Kitty, Georgetown, he fired shots at McKenzie, who was off duty at the time, with intent to cause bodily harm.
Reports are that on the day in question, around 08:30h, McKenzie of Sandy Place, Kitty, was attacked by two men on a motorcycle who fired shots at him, hitting him in his right hand.
The men managed to make good their escape. According to McKenzie, he was involved in an argument with the defendant and the other man who carried out the act. They were later arrested and charged. The case will continue on July 18, 2016.
