Man charged for stealing from brother

A man who stole multiple items from his brother was on Wednesday brought before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Andrew Carter, 56, of Lot 44 Station Street, Kitty, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to a charge of break and enter.

It was alleged that between September 13 and October 15, 2016, at Station Street, Kitty, he broke and entered the storage bond of his brother, Kester Carter and stole several items, including 15 cases of bottles, two motorbike batteries, one toolkit, two fans, one television, among other items; amounting to over $400,000.

The prosecution had no bail objections but asked that it be set at a substantial amount.

When asked of the relationship between him and the Virtual Complainant, the defendant replied “We are from the same bowel but we are not brothers!”

He was granted $70,000 bail and will return on November 7.
