Man dies in LBI hit-and-run accident

…Police seek help to ID victim

A hit-and-run accident that occurred on Thursday along the La Bonne Intention (LBI) Railway Embankment on the East Coast of Demerara has resulted in the death of an unidentified man.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has launched an appeal to the public for assistance in identifying the victim.
The vehicle involved in the fatal hit-and-run incident, PMM 8295, has since been found, and the driver is in custody. However, the identity of the victim, a male of East Indian descent, remains unknown.

The man who died as a result of the accident at LBI

The accident took place at around 22:30h, and the man was found unconscious on the roadway with visible injuries to his body. Concerned residents notified the Police, leading to the mobilisation of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) for assistance.
The injured man was then transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) where,
upon arrival, an examination revealed the extent of the victim’s injuries, including a fractured right foot and various other bodily traumas. His condition was deemed critical, and despite efforts of the medical team at the GPHC, the man succumbed to his injuries.
Persons who may know relatives or family members with any information regarding the unidentified are encouraged to come forward and aid in the identification process.
Last Friday, a hit-and-run accident on Coldigen Public Road, East Coast Demerara claimed the life of Adzel Inniss, a 25-year-old truck driver from Mahaicony.
Inniss had stopped his motor lorry, and was getting out when he was struck by a black Toyota Fielder Wagon. The driver of the Fielder Wagon fled the scene, and both the car’s registration and the driver’s identity are unknown.
Inniss was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. His family learned about the accident when an eyewitness answered his phone and explained what had happened. (G9)
