Home News Man killed in EBD New Year’s Day accident identified
Shortly after the Guyana Police Force (GPF) asked for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who was killed on New Year’s Day on the Covent Garden Public Road, his niece has come forward and positively identified her uncle.
The man was identified as Mark Colpepper, 35, of 1645 Plantation Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD). The accident occurred at about 19:30h on January 1, 2021.
It was reported that on the day in question motor pick-up GKK 6556 driven by a 38-year-old man from Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, was proceeding along the roadway when the now dead man attempted to cross the road.
He, nevertheless, ended up in the path of the vehicle. As a result of the impact, the now dead man sustained injuries about his body and was subsequently picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
The driver of the motor vehicle was arrested but subsequently released. Police are continuing their investigations.
