A 21-year-old was on Friday released on $150,000 bail after he was charged with statutory rape. Triston Telford was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which alleged that between December 1, 2018, and December 31, 2018, at Georgetown, he engaged in sexual penetration with a girl under the age of 16.
He was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. As a condition for bail, Telford has to report to the Alberttown Police Station every Thursday until the hearing and determination of the Preliminary Inquiry.

Telford was also ordered by the court not to make contact with the 12-year-old virtual complainant. The case will continue on January 7, 2021.
