Masked men rob WBD shop owner

A Westminster West Bank Demerara (WBD) shop owner was on Wednesday robbed by two masked men who entered his business place asking for cigarettes.
The businessman was relieved of a Samsung phone and one iPhone.
Based on reports, the 27-year-old victim operates a variety shop, and on the day in question, at about 21:45h, he was in the shop when one of the unidentifiable males who was wearing a mask approached and asked him if he was selling cigarettes.
He told Police that shortly after, he felt a hand covering his eyes from behind. Another male placed an unknown object in his mouth and demanded cash. They then relieved him of his cellphone and scotch-taped his hands and mouth, leaving him in the shop.
A 30-year-old man who was in the home told detectives that he was in his room when one of the suspects entered and struck him to the head with an object, before relieving him of his mobile phone and a bag containing his national ID card, driver’s licence, and a COVID-19 vaccination booklet.
The suspects, the Police added, left in a white Premio motorcar. The matter was reported and an investigation has been launched.
