The alleged mastermind in the execution-style killing of a Tain, Corentyne domestic worker was on Tuesday remanded to prison after she appeared at the Whim Magistrate’s Court.

According to the charge, between February 1 and 7, Outar procured Oliver Permaul, a barber; Andre James, a tattoo artist; Rohan Johnson, a Jamaican national; Nazeema Permaul, wife of the barber and Shabiki Alert Thompson, girlfriend of the tattoo artist, to murder Mohamed.

The accused was represented by Attorney-at-Law Mursaline Bacchus, who informed the court that his client has been in Police custody since February 17. He added that the Police had obtained two extensions from the court to further detain her and had even attempted to secure a third extension on Monday.

The Attorney explained that the court denied the last extension request and so Police rushed to have her brought before the court on Tuesday. In this regard, Bacchus requested that the prosecution disclose all of the statements obtained during the investigation at the next court date.

Outar, who operates a sawmill on the East Bank of Berbice, will have to return to court on March 14. Outar’s husband was not present in court on Tuesday when she appeared. Police in Berbice had been investigating the murder for some three weeks to bring to justice the alleged mastermind.Lelawatie Muhammed

It had been reported that Mohamed was involved in a relationship with Outar’s husband, and out of jealousy, the businesswoman plotted to have her executed and subsequently hired the hitmen. At the time when the mother of four was killed, Outar was reportedly out of the country.

On the night of the shooting incident, the two men hired a Toyota 212 motor car and travelled to the woman’s house about 23:00h as her children were asleep. As they arrived at Mohamed’s house, they kicked down the main access door, went into the house and started to demand money, making it appear as if it were a robbery.

The Jamaican then discharged two rounds hitting Mohamed to the head. As she fell to the ground, the men ensured that the woman was dead before escaping in the motor car.

On February 16, the two Permauls, James, Johnson and Thompson were charged with the murder of Mohamed. They are to return to court in April.
