Some 35.4 kilograms (kg) of cannabis and a sum of Guyanese currency were reportedly found during a Police operation on Wednesday evening at Five Mile, Ituni Road, Upper Demerara River, Region 10.

The discovery has led to the arrest of a 40-year-old resident of Siberia Mines, Upper Demerara River.
According to reports received, Police observed two motorcycles without registration plates travelling along the Ituni Road, with one of them carrying several bulky parcels strapped to the seat of the pillion rider.
As such, Police went in pursuit of the motorcycles, during which the rider carrying the parcels fell from his motorcycle and was apprehended. The other rider managed to escape.
Police examined the parcels and found that they contained cannabis along with $455,180 in cash. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Mackenzie Police Station.
While there, the cannabis was weighed and amounted to 35.4kg (78 pounds). The suspect remains in custody as Police are making efforts to arrest the accomplice.
