Mastermind jailed for 2 years

Staged robbery

Akeem Goodluck, the accused mastermind behind a staged robbery, has been sentenced to two years in prison by Magistrate Annette Singh.
Goodluck is accused of setting up the staged robbery with Parbattie Batteram, who had been entrusted by her employer, Fazil Amid, with $200,000 to be placed in a bank account.
The Prosecution’s contention is that Goodluck was contacted by Batteram via cellular phone to plan and execute the robbery.
According to the facts presented on April 18, the money was handed over to Batteram, and as Goodluck was about to carry out the robbery, he was apprehended by public spirited-persons and handed over to ranks of the City Constabulary.
Lance Corporal James Goodman told the court that on the day in question, Batteram was about to enter a minibus on Regent Street, Georgetown when Goodluck snatched her handbag containing the money.
However, charges were not pressed against Batteram.
